FAQ: How do I choose the Led Lenser P7 or P14?

Hi Doc,
Do I want a P7 or a P14? All other things being equal I’d choose smaller, but I can’t tell what the other differences are.

1) Looks like they don’t differ much in brightness. Is that right? Maybe P7: 170l and P14 180l?

2) I guess battery life will be about half for the P7, but both look to have good battery life. Do you have a comparison for when they are running at full power?

3) The main question is whether there is any difference in the lens. The P14 seems to have a much bigger lens. Does that enhance its function in some way?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Paul.

Hi Paul,

first thing is the Lumens, I’ve just changed the wording on the product pages, but Led Lenser has changed the lumens weeks ago. The Led Lenser P14 is now 212 Lumens and the Led Lenser P7 is 200 Lumens.
There is a big difference in that the P14 has a larger lens and as such throws further than the P7 by about 25% at a guess.
Up close the flood of the P7 is cleaner, though neither have dark spots.
Battery life in real life is this: I use the P7 as lighting for my video camera when doing shows, I’ve used the P7 for 4 shows and not changed batteries. You will get a good 8hrs on high power.
Same goes for P14, everything else is Low power for such long times and the Momentary high power would probably be half as much as the high.

Get it, try it and you can always return it within 30 days, just keep it tidy!

Best wishes
Doc
